40 companies hit unicorn status in July—highest monthly total in 4 years; AI and robotics lead

A record 40 companies joined Crunchbase's Unicorn Board in July, the highest monthly total in over four years. Three reached decacorn valuations (≥$10B): Crypto.com, Kling AI, and Ant International, collectively adding $49 billion in value. The cohort spans financial services, robotics, AI orchestration, multimodal AI, energy, and semiconductors. Over $100 billion in new unicorn value was added in each of the past two months, with H1 2026 already exceeding the total for all of 2025.

Leading sectors included humanoid robotics (LimX Dynamics at $2.2B, Humanoid at $1.4B, Walden Robotics at $1.1B) and AI infrastructure (Oxylabs at $3.6B, Multiverse Computing at $2.3B, Simile at $2B). Fifteen newly minted unicorns were under 3 years old, signaling accelerated valuations. The US accounted for 19 of July's 40 (just under half); China added 8, with smaller counts from UK (3), Singapore (2), and one each from Lithuania, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Australia, India, Israel, and Hong Kong.

The accelerating unicorn count reflects persistent venture appetite despite public-market volatility and rising capital costs. Robotics and AI dominance in the July cohort underscores investor conviction in physical and agentic AI as the next wave of infrastructure. Architects tracking funding velocity should note that private valuations are reaching scale faster than prior cycles—many of these companies will enter IPO or secondary markets with $1B+ revenue runs, reducing traditional pre-public windows.
