Anthropic begins IPO investor roadshow; October 2026 Nasdaq debut targeted at $965B–$1T valuation

Anthropic's underwriting banks have begun scheduling pre-roadshow investor meetings, signaling imminent progress toward a public market debut as early as October 2026, CNBC reported on July 15. The company confidentially filed its S-1 registration statement with the SEC on June 1, 2026, following its May Series H round that valued the company at $965 billion post-money — ahead of OpenAI's similarly confidential S-1 filing.

The Series H raised $65 billion from a consortium of institutional and strategic investors including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia, Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, Baillie Gifford, Blackstone, Brookfield, DST Global, and Fidelity. Semiconductor partners Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron also participated, emphasizing the capital-intensity of frontier AI model training. Anthropic's run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion by May 2026, driven by Claude Code and enterprise API.

If Anthropic prices above $1 trillion, it would rank among the largest IPOs in U.S. history, with several forecasters projecting that valuation floor. The company has not disclosed a price range, share count, or firm listing date. OpenAI is also pursuing an IPO but signaled 2027 timing, giving Anthropic the first-mover advantage among frontier AI safety labs in reaching public markets.

For enterprises: Anthropic's S-1 will become the first audited disclosure of frontier-lab financials when published. Watch for risk factors around export controls (Fable 5 suspension in June), infrastructure dependency on AWS and cloud partners, and the carbon footprint of multi-gigawatt compute commitments. Public company status will impose quarterly reporting, but API terms and Claude pricing are not guaranteed to change.
