Firebird launches 70,000-GPU AI factory in Armenia with NVIDIA backing

Firebird, an emerging AI cloud provider, launched the CIS region's largest AI factory in Armenia, an AI computing hub powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing and Dell Technologies infrastructure. The opening ceremony was attended by Nikol Pashinyan (Prime Minister of Armenia), Zhaslan Madiyev (Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan), and David Allen (U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Armenia). Firebird plans to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs and 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity in Armenia by the end of 2027. NVIDIA has announced its intent to invest in Firebird, joining earlier investors CoreWeave.

Firebird's infrastructure strategy centers on NVIDIA's DSX platform, a codesigned system integrating accelerated computing, networking, power, and cooling. Built on DSX, the Armenia facility can run up to 40% more GPUs on the same footprint, producing more tokens per dollar and extracting more value from every megawatt of capacity. The facility is designed from the ground up to turn compute into revenue. The company has also announced an approximately 2-gigawatt AI infrastructure roadmap spanning Armenia, Kazakhstan, and additional frontier markets. Perplexity, an AI agent platform and answer engine, is already working with Firebird to access high-performance AI infrastructure.

Schneider Electric provides the power infrastructure (medium- and low-voltage switchgear, three-phase UPS systems, and rack enclosures), while Vertiv provided cooling architecture combining chilled-water technology and TrimCooler technology for efficient heat rejection. The facility was delivered in just over six months, demonstrating Firebird's speed in turning ambitious infrastructure plans into operational capacity. This marks a significant expansion of NVIDIA's regional footprint and strategy to position itself as the central compute platform for frontier-market AI development.

For AI builders outside the United States and Western Europe, Firebird's Armenia facility signals a new tier of accessible, sovereign compute capacity. NVIDIA's direct investment and support suggest the company is treating frontier-market AI infrastructure as strategically important—not just a sales channel. The 70,000-GPU scale and 2-gigawatt roadmap indicate confidence in sustained AI workload demand from hyperscalers and emerging cloud providers. For architects considering geopolitical redundancy or regulatory sovereignty, this represents a meaningful alternative to US/EU-only data center footprints.
