Google TPU Generation 8 designed for agents and SOTA model training

Google unveiled its 8th generation TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) optimized for agent workloads and state-of-the-art (SOTA) model training. The new architecture features enhanced memory bandwidth, improved sparsity support, and scaled matrix multiplication optimizations targeting agentic inference patterns and long-context training.

The release underscores Google's push to defend its AI accelerator market share against NVIDIA. TPU8 competes with NVIDIA's H100/H200 for hyperscaler training workloads, though adoption remains concentrated within Google Cloud deployments.
