As Samsung and SK lock up multi-billion-dollar HBM and foundry commitments with Nvidia and Broadcom, Intel's custom-silicon path (targeting Broadcom, Marvell, systems companies in networking and automotive) appears more realistic than direct TSMC competition. The company's 'purpose-built silicon' business approaches $2B annual run rate and targets $4B, suggesting Intel is repositioning as a hybrid custom-chip + foundry player rather than pure foundry.
