Intel hires Qualcomm veteran Alex Katouzian to lead client computing

Intel announced that Alex Katouzian, a 25-year Qualcomm veteran, will join as Senior Vice President leading the Client Computing Group. Katouzian previously oversaw Qualcomm's premium smartphone and PC processor roadmaps and brings deep expertise in mobile-first CPU architecture. The hire signals Intel's renewed focus on consumer and edge AI chips as it reshuffles its leadership.

Katouzian's appointment comes as Intel battles AMD in ultra-thin laptops and edges deeper into physical AI chips for edge inference. His experience with power-efficient, heterogeneous compute aligns with Intel's stated priorities for Meteor Lake follow-ups and Qualcomm-competitive positioning in the next 18 months.
