SpaceX and Tesla formally announced that Terafab, their joint advanced semiconductor fabrication project, will be built in Grimes County, Texas, approximately 45 miles northwest of Houston. Unlike conventional semiconductor fabs that separate logic and memory production across different facilities, Terafab will consolidate manufacturing, packaging, and testing of advanced logic and memory under a single roof. This vertical integration is intended to shorten production cycles and accelerate time-to-yield through faster iterative improvements. The facility will employ at least 3,000 workers from Grimes and neighboring Brazos counties.
