NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super brings 67 TOPS of AI to handbag-friendly robotics kits

NVIDIA has announced the Jetson Orin Nano Super, the latest compact edge-AI compute module for robotics and embedded AI workloads. The module packs 67 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance in a developer kit small enough to fit in a handbag, positioning it as the entry point for students and researchers building their first intelligent robots. NVIDIA is promoting the module through a series of on-device AI examples — autonomous toy vehicles, voice-vision assistants running fully locally with no cloud, and AI-powered robotics podcasts — all executing on a single Jetson Orin Nano Super without internet or API keys required.

The Orin Nano Super is part of the broader Jetson platform, which now spans three tiers: Jetson Orin Nano Super for first-time builders, Jetson AGX Orin for researchers and professors deploying cutting-edge AI in labs and classrooms, and Jetson AGX Thor for pushing the boundaries of autonomous systems. Each tier integrates NVIDIA's GPU acceleration, allowing developers to run open-weight models (NVIDIA cited Mistral as an example) and local computer vision at the edge. NVIDIA paired the announcement with new Device Skills and BSP Skills frameworks to help developers simplify the workflow from coding to optimization to deployment.

This matters for enterprises and embedded-systems builders because as frontier LLMs and vision-language models move to local edge inference (eliminating cloud costs and latency), developer adoption hinges on accessible hardware and toolchains. Jetson Orin Nano Super, with its handbag-friendly form factor and modest price point, lowers the barrier to experimenting with on-device AI agents, reinforcing NVIDIA's bet that the physical-world robotics and autonomous systems market will drive compute demand as LLMs saturate cloud infrastructure.
