OpenAI brings models to AWS, ending Microsoft cloud exclusivity
OpenAI has made its models — including GPT-4o, Codex, and Managed Agents — available on Amazon Web Services, following the expiration of an exclusivity clause with Microsoft Azure. The company confirmed the move in a blog post and via CNBC.
For enterprise teams, this opens a second major hyperscaler procurement path for OpenAI APIs, potentially improving availability, pricing leverage, and compliance positioning for organizations already standardized on AWS infrastructure.
